This is another great old home in the Southern Highlands, 'Hillview' at Sutton Forest,
I just love these little stone stairs built into the side of the hill, overgrown and beautiful.
I photographed this a while ago when Andrew and I went to look at leasing this amazing property for 40 years. Hillview was the country residence to seventeen Governor's of NSW from 1882 - 1957.
We decided or should I say Andrew decided he wanted to have a life instead, as there was sooooooo much to do and restore at Hillview. From memory there were at least fifty or sixty rooms in the main home. Can you just imagine the fun I would have had doing them up.
If we had gone ahead and leased Hillview, there would have been a room for all of you when you visited us in Australia and how wonderful would that be!!

I also love this starway. I can imagine all the work this must have been to build. Great shot. Mumzie
ReplyDeleteCoty, I do so love your blog which I've only discovered a few days ago. You make me smile.
ReplyDeleteI'd be quite happy to just pitch a tent in your backyard. Miss you and hope all is well.
